Website Accessibility Tips

This website is checked to ensure compliance with WCAG (web content accessibility guidelines) priority 1 and priority 2 guidelines. The settings and instructions provided below can also help improve your ability to access the information contained within this website. In general, the font style and size has been optimized for visual clarity and the layout is suitable for assistive technology users to access all content. Documents available for download or print are provided in several formats and include large print versions. Instructions are provided with shortcut tips and captions easily read by screen reader progams.

For most browsers (IE, Firefox, Safari, Chrome, etc.) a standard keyboard shortcut to increase the font size is Control and the Plus Sign. Each time you enter this shortcut the font size will increase. To reduce the text size, use the shortcut of Control and the Minus Sign. For Mac users, the same shortcut will be Command and the Plus Sign or Command and the Minus Sign.

Client-side options with browsers may include adjusting display settings within the Preferences or Options tools offered by these browsers. For example, the color of the links may be selected to appear with better contrast or color, and the display settings are customizable.

Another client-side option is to change the link color with High Contrast on a computer. Sometimes links are difficult to see on a web page. To update this in Microsoft Windows, do the following:

  • From the Start Button select the Control Panel and then the Ease of Access Center
  • Select "Set up High Contrast"
  • On the Make the computer easier to see window select from High Contrast option "Choose a High Contrast color scheme"
  • On the Appearance Settings window select the High Contrast Color scheme to change and then select the Advanced button
  • On the Advanced Appearance window, select the "Hyperlink" Item and choose the color (from the drop down list) that is the best contrast for you.

For users of AT, follow the guidelines of the assistive technology provider and use the appropriate features in the toolbars provided.

For those who have the ability to download and install programs, applications, add-ons, extensions and customize browsers, many freeware and shareware options are available.
